The National Territory Council (NTC) has approved five permits for the construction of small hydropower plants (HPP) and has reviewed an existing one.
Two permits were approved for the construction of two hydropower plants in Urake river near the northern town of Mat.
Also, the National Territory Council approved a construction permit for two hydropower plants, Veleshica 1 and Veleshica 2, on the river of the same name, in the northern town of Dibra.
Another permit was given for the construction of the hydropower plants Ligjanca 1 and Ligjanca 2, on the river of the same name in Prrenjas.
The last permit was given for the construction of the HPP in river Shushica, southwestern Vlora region. Also, the council has approved the review of an existing permit by extending the deadline for two hydropower plants in Klos.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy was involved a few months ago in a scanning process for the concessionary contracts of all hydropower plants in the country.
