PODGORICA (Montenegro), February 2 (SeeNews) – Montenegro’s power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) [MNG:EPCG] said it has signed a 1.6 million euro ($2 million) contract for the design of Komarnica hydro power plant (HPP).

The contract was signed with a consortium of Montenegro’s Institut za Vodoprivredu Jaroslav Cerni and Energoprojekt Hidroinzenjering, which will also be in charge of preparing a feasibility and environmental impact study of the construction project, EPCG said in a statement on Thursday.

The consortium will have 15 months to prepare the project design and documentation, the Montenegrin power utility said.

The construction cost and the technical characteristics of the HPP will be determined after the delivery of the feasibility study, EPCG added.

In October 2016, EPCG unveiled plans to analyse a project for the construction of a 170 MW hydropower plant in Komarnica, which will produce 200 GWh of electricity annually.
