BELGRADE (Serbia), November 23 (SeeNews) – Serbia’s state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has said it expects to complete the overhaul of the A2 turbine of Zvornik hydro power plant (HPP) in January 2018.

The company has already completed the overhaul of the A1 turbine of Zvornik and has invested 50% of the total 63 million euro ($74.6 million) financing earmarked for the upgrade of the power plant, EPS said in the latest edition of its corporate newsletter.

EPS completed the overhaul of A1 turbine last year and put it into operation on December 23 and plans to start works on A3 turbine next year, the company added.

The power utility signed a contract for the overhaul of the turbines with German company Voith Hydro in August 2013. Back then, EPS said the installed capacity of each of the four units of Zvornik HPP will be increased to 32.4 MW from 24 MW.

The project is financed by German development bank KfW.
